Learn to Skate
Basic skating skills are taught in a group setting to skaters from age 3 through adult. Groups are divided according to age and ability. Adult classes are included in all sessions. With eight or fewer skaters per coach, class sizes are the smallest in the Ann Arbor area. Our coaching staff is screened for the highest credentials to assure our quality of instruction. So bring your friends and family to the AAFSC to learn skating fundamentals in a safe and fun environment.
All Learn-to-Skate participants have the opportunity to participate in the AAFSC annual ice show, Melody on Ice. This is held in March, at the end of the Winter LTS session and all skaters enrolled during the Winter session are encouraged to participate.
For skaters advancing beyond the initial Learn-to-Skate class structure, there is a Bridge program to help skaters move smoothly towards individualized instruction. Ask about it in the AAFSC Office.
Interested group skaters are eligible to compete in any of several Basic Skills competitions held annually throughout Michigan and the US. Ann Arbor FSC hosts a Basic Skills competition each year in late Spring/early Summer.
