Background:
Iouri Chesnichenko began skating in Moscow, Russia at the age of seven years old. For the last twenty years, figure skating has been a major part of his life. As a member of the Russian National team, Iouri has competed in many international competitions including Junior Worlds, Skate America, Skate Canada, and the European Championships. He has worked with Olympic Champions coaches Natalia Linichuk ( 1985-1989) and Natalia Dubova(1989-1993). Iouri trained in Moscow with two time Olympic Gold Medalist Oksana Grischuk/Evganiy Platov, Olympic Gold Medalists Marina Klimova and Sergai Ponomarenko, Silver Olympic Champions Maya Usova/Alexander Zulin, and Champions Tatiana Navka and Irina Slutskay.

From 1995 to 1999, Iouri enjoyed touring in Europe with different ice shows including Torvill and Dean's "Ice Adventure's". In 1999 Iouri joined the professional staff at the Ann Arbor Figure Skating Club and enjoys working with skaters of all levels and ages. His students successfully competed at Junior and Adult Nationals as well as US National and International competitions.

Experience:
Since 1999 Iouri has been coaching students from basic beginners to an International level. Iouri has led students to their Senior tests level, National and International competitions. Iouri has level V ranking with PSA (an International level coach) as well as Registered rating in Free Style and Moves in The Field. Iouri is continuing his professional education by taking part in national seminars and work shops and is continuing to take more rating tests.

Since 1999 Iouri and his skating partner Yaroslava Netchaeva started developing the competitive dance program at AAFSC. Starting from preliminary level Iouri was able to develop the program which led his students to 2002 Juvenile; 2002 and 2003 Intermediate Junior National Champions and 2004 Novice National champions. Iouri's students successfully competed at International competitions bringing two Gold and two Silver medals to AAFSC.
